NJ season: Jun 28 – Aug 28
Garlic is available in different forms throughout the year. Bulb garlic stores well into the Winter. Garlic scapes are ready in the Spring.
Bulb garlic is best stored at room temperature and at low humidity. Garlic scapes/scallions should be refrigerated.
Culinary uses: Garlic has a bold, pungent flavor that becomes mellow, sweet, and nutty when roasted or cooked. It is a staple in cuisines worldwide, adding depth to sauces, soups, roasted vegetables, meats, seafood, and countless savory dishes while pairing well with herbs, butter, olive oil, citrus, and spices.
Nutrition: Garlic provides vitamin C, vitamin B6, manganese, and beneficial sulfur compounds such as allicin. These natural compounds have antioxidant properties and may support heart health, immune function, and overall wellness.
